Edits ‘Burn’

Edits have released their new single ‘Burn’. The track is completely self produced by Liv (Vocals & Synths) and Chris (Guitars) culminating from the band’s time studying at The University of Salford, where they began their musical journey.

‘Burn’ is a palpitation roar of Edits blistering alternative rock as they surge the track with kinetic energy and dazzling soundscapes. Gritty guitars slice and dice through the track with relentless stamina while skittish synths frantically wander about the track creating a chilling sense of suspense. The powerful vocals pierce while punchy beats stomp throughout as the track builds into a frantic chorus filled with might and robust instrumentation. This song weaves and twists into its dark concoction creating an agitated and distressed wall of sound that is thrilling and utterly mesmerising.

About the track Liv said : “I wanted Burn to be the antithesis of Cold (the band’s 2018 single about the inability to feel). Burn is about finding that raw spark inside you and about letting every little bit of emotion out. Burn is the feeling of freedom and invincibility I get when we play live.”

Edits ‘Cold’

Manchester synth pop duo Edits have released their new single ‘Cold’. Formed in the legendary crumbling walls of Salford Uni’s Adelphi building, Liv Westhead (Vocals/Synths) and Chris Abbott (Guitars/Programming) provide their D.I.Y. aesthetic; producing everything themselves, including their music videos. Their latest single follows on from January’s ‘Re-Surface’ EP and the accompanying video takes the viewer on a journey through snow-covered mountains.

‘Cold’ is an endearing, breezy synth pop number that chills and swirls with kinetic icy adrenaline. Twinkling synths glitter and glisten through the brooding melody as Westhead coo’s over the spine tingling melody. Her vocal command is mesmerising as she sweetly and effortlessly shifts into her falsetto holding a soothing yet ominous tone. The track flurries and dances about dark soundscapes as it becomes heavier towards the crescendo. The slapping beat flashes dazzling trip hop hues throughout as Edits use their electronics to their full potential- creating a cinematic icy number to chill you to the core yet entice you into the track depths. It’s a mature, bold track that slides this duo’s charming glacial sound into your frostbitten ears with ease.

Edits ‘Don’t Speak’

Edits are a Girl/Boy Duo from Manchester that create “electronic other world-ness”. Sandwiched somewhere between synth pop and post-rock the band consists of members Liv Westhead (Vocals/Synths) and Chris Abbott (Guitars/Programming). Edits take pride in their D.I.Y. aesthetic; producing everything they make themselves, even their music videos. The pair recently self-recorded a video series live to tape called ‘The Tape Sessions’ showcasing their creativity and recording skills. The duo have released their new single ‘Don’t Speak’ which is a synth pop anthem reminiscent of Chvrches, The XX and Everything Everything.

‘Don’t Speak’ is an atmospheric synth pop dazzler oozing anthemic fist pump power teamed with darker indie soundscapes. Flickering synths create a fluctuating bedazzlement while swirling synths and Westhead’s vocals add passion and tension. The sharp guitar and punchy drums build the track up creating a gritty rock heaviness and rough texture to the otherwise sugary pop sound. The verses brood with a darkened undertone while the anthemic chorus bursts with mini instrumental explosions. Its charming and endearing and immensely catchy.
