Misfires ‘Coming Home’

misfires

Misfires are a Swindon quartet band that produce “some kind of mad, ambient and spacey noise, that’ll make you wanna have a party”. Band members Matt (guitar / vocal), Mert (guitar), Jake (bass) and James (drums) have released their new single ‘Coming Home’. Its an edgy punk- flecked indie track. With strident driving guitars, punchy drums and energising chorus Misfires have written a catchy aerial track with darkened moody undertones that bubble in the background until the mosh worthy release of the instrumental. The expressive dynamic grit on vocals teamed with ace guitar work and casual attitude is specked with suppressed aggression. These guys emit a cool indifferent swagger. This easy to sing along to cracking track shows great promise in the Swindon four piece.

Harbouring Oceans ‘Enso’

Harbouring Oceans are an alternative Pop, Art Rock band from Kilkenny. The band consist of Dan Pearson (Guitar/Lead Vocals), Geoff Warner-Clayton (Keys/Vocals), Benedict Warner-Clayton (Drums), Ken Farrell (Bass) and Thomas Donoghue (Lead Guitar). The five-piece released their debut single, ‘Enso’ in May this year. It is the first release from a band who’s members have been playing together in different projects for over a decade and finally after years of experimenting with their sound across Ireland in some of the country’s biggest venues and festivals, Harbouring Oceans was born in December 2015.
‘Enso’ is a tender emotive track tightly packed in a soulful stirring melody and bound with deep rhythmic grooves. Pearson’s vocals are clear and exude raw passionate emotion with lush close harmony in backing vocals that adds a delicate and dainty quality to the track. ‘Enso’ begins in a soft ambient manner that builds as the song progresses. The light piano feature adds  grace and elegance to this beautiful track. The guitars interweave through the music and teamed with the groove of the bass give elasticity to track which adds a flexible sway -like quality. Harbouring Oceans have found a blend of soulful, sensual, raw emotional music that evokes your senses and touches your soul.
Watch out for these guys.

Johnny Lloyd’s Hello Death

The former Tribes frontman Johnny Lloyds new EP ‘Dreamland’ is set for release this May and his new song ‘Hello Death’, which was produced by Jamie T is the first release from this EP. This track has a darker tone than his previous ‘ Happy Humans’ and is full of raw emotion. Lloyd shows us his amazing ability as a songwriter as his brings us this melancholy, mournful track. With slow picking guitar at the start and a deep drum beat in the background a sombre mood is created, as Lloyd lays all his emotions on the table with a heartfelt vocal. The song carefully builds to an intense unfeigned crescendo. Creating an atmosphere of anguish and grief.
Lloyd shows us his skill for evoking our emotions with this track and his versatility as an artist. Really looking forward to his new EP ‘Dreamland’

Polar States

Polar States are a band from Liverpool who’s début single won them the attention of Grammy Award winning producer Jon Withnall (Coldplay, Elbow) and since then its been none stop.Paul, Josh, Phill and Mark have just released their new single ‘TIME’. Which they recorded in their rehearsal room, produced it themselves and mixed it in Paul’s flat.
“Time” is an example of this bands beautiful song writing, its honest and full of raw emotion, set to radiant music. Its smoothly arranged and is so easy to listen to, with soft vocals and steady beats and lustrous guitars. Its real music full of passion and truth and an absolute joy to listen to. It has a dreamy, hazy vibe that makes you want to sit back close your eyes and let the music take you away.

Inkfields

Inkfields was formed in Australia, 2012 by Brit Singer-Songwriter Sam James-Griffiths, but has appeared in band-form from time to time. Inkfields is most often a solo act that crosses indie, rock, pop and electronic. Sam James-Griffiths is a multi instrumentalist from Edinburgh he has mastered guitar, piano, bass, drums.
The first official record from Inkfields was titled ‘Paperless Book’, and was recorded and released in Sweden, in 2015. This 5 track EP is a beautiful arrangement of light ambient songs where the electric guitar and vocals are most prominent. The EP as a whole is relaxing and has the power to put you at ease and create a peaceful atmosphere while subtly showing off Sams guitar skills.
His EP ‘You forgot the roots’ was recorded in Germany and released February this year and is a compilation of well composed tracks as Sam displays his instrumental talent with bluesy style piano and guitar and deep lyrics. Each track is so easy to listen to and beautifully arranged and melodic with strong beats and soft piano, perfect for summer evenings.
Summer 2016 will see a third EP to be released. It will be recorded in a studio in Wales and as of yet, the title and launch date are not known. I for one will look forward to hearing more from Inkfields.
