The Amazons ‘Doubt It’

The Amazons have announced their new album ‘Future Dust’ will be released on 24th May on Fiction Records, alongside revealing their new single ‘Doubt It’. The Amazons were the most hotly tipped band of 2017 and followed through with their debut album reaching #8 in the official chart. The band received  BBC Radio 1 and 6 music A lists as well as a sold out tour including London’s Kentish Town Forum.

‘Doubt It’ is a gritty rugged slice of The Amazons’ swaggering sound. With jagged riffs carving through the pounding drums and groove infested bass this darkly smothering track is one exhilarating anthem. These guys drench the track in blistering instrumentation with sweltering guitars and a hip moving foundation to create a menacing blast of absorbing indie rock. With its luring intense verses building magnificently into the powerful chorus this fiery anthem is arena ready and absolutely thrilling. Lush backing vocals coo behind Matthew Thomson’s main passionate vocal delivery while sizzling guitar injections penetrate the punchy rhythmic section – its a thrilling new belter from The Amazons.

Lead singer Matthew Thomson says, “Doubt It is about being on the edge of making a potentially stupid decision due to lust-induced blindness. It addresses the lingering doubts, the residue of morals and succumbing to the temptations.”

Lady Landscape ‘Kitsilano’

Meath-based indie pop band, Lady Landscape have released their debut single, ‘Kitsilano’. Founded by Alex Harrison and Ryan McDonnell in late 2018, Lady Landscape embrace a lo-fi sound that combines rich synth textures, dreamy guitar rhythms and smooth baritone vocals. Taking their name from an inside joke concerning McDonell’s avoidance of the dating scene. Lady Landscape became a five-piece in 2019, incorporating friends of the group: Jamie Reynolds (Drums), Tiernan Buckley (Bass) and Adam Ollin (Lead Guitar), for a series of live shows in Dublin.

‘Kitsilano’ is a dreamy wisp of indie that binds Lady Landscape’s sound with sweet flurries of lo-fi pop. Soft guitar strums and jingles around an ethereal backdrop of twinkling synths. The steady beat weaves and hops about the track while the jangly keys playfully wander through this blissful mellow song. The nonchalant baritone vocals murmur through the majestic soundscape and sun sprinkled instrumentation. Filled with laid back tones Lady Landscape create a supple tune that is smooth and easy on the ears.

BLVFF ‘Shame’

BLVFF have released their new single ‘Shame’. BLVFF, pronounced bluff, are a dark, indie, pop collective, hailing from the Midlands. With 30,000 Spotify streams, plays from BBC Intro Midlands and Amazing Radio the band have now signed to much loved new indie label These Bloody Thieves Records along with False Heads & Moses.

‘Shame’ is a blustery compact number sizzling and scorching with intense instrumentation and powerful musicianship. Sharp guitars relentlessly pierce through the track with scorching raw adrenaline while a rooted bass groove and punchy drums create a thrilling body pounding backdrop. The track flurries and fiercely batters with refined precision as the catchy smooth melody glides over this stormy instrumentation. Quarry ‘Super Arcade’

Quarry has released his new album ‘Super Arcade’. Quarry is London-based indie-rock singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Vittorio Tolomeo.Vittorio Tolomeo debuted as a solo artist in 2010 with “Prize Day” (Morada Records/Audio Fidelity), which lent its title to the future Quarry’s ensemble, PRIZEDAY. The band released an album titled “Apps Will Grow Like Feathers” through New Zealand’s Do It Records in 2014 and toured across Europe and in the U.K., where the collective not only played to the crowds of The Great Escape Festival but also opened a number of Arthur Brown’s concerts. Their short film “War Zone” including five songs of the album was showcased at Cannes Film Festival.

Title track ‘Super Arcade’ is a luring groove riddled number with a foot tapping infectious beat and suave melody that boasts the swagger dripping sound of Quarry. With an enticing guitar riff revolving hypnotically throughout the track – it hooks you from the start. The track bounces along at a chirpy pace, however the gritty guitars and darkly coated mysterious soundscape create a chilling quality while the dynamic warm vocals contrast this perfectly. It’s a peppy finger clicking number that is charming and an enjoyable listen.

SPRINTS ‘Pathetic’

Dublin alternative rock band SPRINTS have released their new single ‘Pathetic’. It was recorded in Darklands Studio by Dan Doherty, mixed by Robin Ball and mastered by Fergal Davis. Comprised of Karla Chubb, Colm O’Reilly, Sam McCann and Jack Callan, the band have over three years gigging experience as individuals and are looking forward to storming the gig circuit in 2019.SPRINTS played their first gig in Whelan’s this February, and have quickly gained a reputation as a ferocious live band. They have since played gigs in a number of Dublin’s top music venues and supported UK band Alexis Kings on the Irish leg of their European tour in the Workman’s Club.

‘Pathetic’ is a searing raw alternative number with thrilling guitar flirtations, meaty drum progressions and infectious gritty melodies. Karla Chubb’s powerful vocals command attention and submerge this fiery track in her rich depths and attitude. These guys showcase their proficient musicianship through their meticulous arrangement – the slick guitar lines flood the track with panache and sweltering swagger as they soar whine and shrill with elegance and flamboyant grandeur while the raw backdrop sets a groove festering foundation. The elastic rumble on bass weaves a luring wigglement through the blistering display on guitars as they stride into a blazing solo. SPRINTS are ones to keep an eye on.

Le Boom ‘Just Want To’

Dublin-based electronic-pop duo, Le Boom (who can count Christine of Christine and the Queens as a fan),comprised of producer, Christy Leech, and vocalist, Aimie Mallon have released the video for their new single, ‘Just Want To’ taken from the forthcoming EP, ‘All Of My Highs’ out May 3. Directed by Alina Maria Rancier on Long Island, NY ‘Just Want To’ thematically picks apart social insecurities. Le Boom had a thrilling 2018, performing across some of Europe’s largest festivals – Primavera, Body & Soul and Electric Picnic to-boot – whilst also taking their eccentric live show to Reykjavik, New York and Bilbao. The duo continued by selling out an Irish headline tour – including a stop at Dublin’s 1000-capacity District 8 venue – and achieving playlist success at Spotify, attaining spots on ’New Music Friday’ & ‘Hot New Bands’ amongst others.

‘Just Want To’ is a dazzling electronic gem consumed in flashing soundscapes with an infectious groove providing that buoyant backbone.The hypnotising beat flutters and slaps behind the shimmering synths creating a compelling prismatic effect that sparkles and summons you to the dance floor. Skyfever are a rock band from Ireland who are breaking through in a big way, with their music being selected for play in a number of famous sports stadiums. Their infectious rock music has filled the stadiums of Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC, the Tennessee Titans , the world famous New York Yankees and also at the Carolina Panthers 75,000 seater Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The band have now released their new single ‘Kings’ taken off their current ‘Rear View Mirror’ EP.

‘Kings’ is a scorching rock and roll banger.This anthem is locked and loaded with swagger dripping splendor, shredding instrumentation and oodles of sweat and leather attitude. Laced in flamboyant slinky guitar licks this track struts in on a vaporous wave of blistering glory as the punchy drums and elastic bass groove keep those sweltering guitars company with a strut ready foundation. About the track the band said : “Kings was written after a lost weekend involving a lot of whiskey, Muhammed Ali documentaries, Game of Thrones and rediscovering early U2 albums. Embracing the war within and who you really are is an important mantra within our band and this song is the anthem for that way of life”

Look To The Lady ‘Humans’

Five piece Wicklow band Look To The Lady have released their new single ‘Humans’.Just off the back of their recent Humans Tour they are set to put out a whole host of new music, including a video for the namesake of their tour ‘Humans’.

‘Humans’ showcases Look To The Lady’s ability to lay down passion and emotion through delicate melodies and rich instrumentation. With warm twinkling guitars lamenting through a steady beat the track begins sweet and tender.It’s delicate ethereal soundscapes flicker through the strong vocal delivery as the song broods and mourns with icy tones right up to the expressive crescendo. A sharp and beautifully majestic guitar solo takes over the crescendo displaying the bands immense refinement and finesse. The bittersweet, haunting tones and dramatic build make this track a hair raising and powerful display from Look To The Lady.

Watchy ‘Shelved’

Dublin artist Watchy has released his debut single ‘Shelved’. After playing in numerous bands, Watchy has decided to go solo and this groove-rooted glimmering instrumental number is the thrilling result. The track broods and festers to start creating a dreamy haze as the sparkling synths interplay with the droning bass and punchy drums. The synths and bass create a soft dialogue to start as the drums maintain that all important meaty foundation which holds your subconscious through the meandering hypnotic melodies and lush synths. It’s a new wave fluttering spell of delight that blends beautifully. The track builds gradually, finally surging with adrenaline it becomes more heavy. The bass slips into its grittier more powerful persona breaking away from the dazed,dreamy, synth-jam into punk rock ferocity. Watchy howls over this powerful display of raw sharpness as the percussion and drums flesh out and become more harsh and expressive. ‘Shelved’ is a perfectly crafted and finely brewed explosive debut from Watchy.

About the track Watchy said : “I wrote this song completely myself from scratch and it was the first time I’d done so and was actually happy with it, my friend Dara from Chancer plays drums on it and we got the whole thing done in one day despite it being Dara’s first time hearing it in the studio,,,, This is my debut single and I’ve got more coming in the future”

Bare Roots ‘Away Too Long’

Hot on the heals of their epic debut release, ‘Ride The Wave’, the latest product of Newcastle’s burgeoning indie rock scene Bare Roots have confirmed the release of their follow up single ‘Away Too Long’, set for digital and streaming release on Good Friday, April 19th.BARE ROOTS combine 80s soundscapes with 90s soulful rock and roll. The band was formed by school mates Anthony Francis (vocals, guitar), Joe Anderson (bass) and Martin Corkhill (drums) who later joined forces with Ollie Petrie (guitar). Thanks to a wave of early industry hype, the band are already scheduled to perform at Newcastle festivals Hit The North 2019, THIS IS TOMORROW and Stockton Calling alongside acts such as Jake Bugg, Tom Grennan, Foals, You Me At Six and Nothing But Thieves.

‘Away Too Long’ is an anthemic whack of the infectious indie rock Bare Roots do so well. With blistering guitars, hefty drums and an exhilarating wall of sound that will give you goosebumps – this track is another powerful mammoth. Arena ready and filled with passion their potent rock is hook-filled and rushes adrenaline through your veins. The ethereal guitar jingles with sweet lamenting nostalgia through the verses before blasting into the crashing chorus. With a compelling tantalising solo as the icing on this delicious cake Bare Roots present another intense indie track that packs oodles of gusto and refined instrumentation.

Speaking about the new single,front man, Anthony Francis said: “The track was influenced by those big nostalgic rock songs. Tracks such as ‘Go Your Own Way’ by Fleetwood Mac and ‘Hold Back The River’ by James Bay spring to mind. Although we’ve only recently launched as a band, we have a lot of material already written and recorded. We’ve had Away Too Long for a while now and we’re excited to put it out there. We work hard on our tunes and it’s all we do. We’ve focused on the art of songwriting and music production so that we can offer the listener something truly homegrown. People are often surprised that we’ve created it all ourselves! Away Too Long is a heartbreak tune. If you’ve experienced an ounce of heartbreak in your time, then I’m sure you can relate to it.”
