Our Worth A Listen Track This Week Comes From Ten Fé

London band Ten Fé consist of duo of Ben Moorhouse and Leo Duncan. We did a feature on their dreamy 80s inspired love song ‘Elodie’ earlier this year. Both their tracks ‘Elodie’ and ‘In The Air’ reached No. 2 in Hype Machine’s most popular chart and accumulated 4 million Spotify streams, whilst their debut single ‘Make Me Better’ was remixed by electronic music legend UNKLE. Ten Fé have just released their new single ‘Turn’ and we have chosen it as our worth a listen track this week. The duo weave and infuse a blissful blend of lazy mellow Americana with mists of delicate psychedelia. With sweeping compelling electronics that add a hazy opaque melancholy atmosphere to the track. The velvety smooth vocals add a tender softness to the track with lush supple harmonies that are oh so sweet and creamy adding a dainty elegance. The psychedelic guitar adds subtle sharpness and gives a sorrowful daydream effect. Ten Fé showcase their ability to show raw emotion in a gentle and compassionate manner. Another fantastic track from the duo, look forward to more and hopefully an Irish show soon.

Our Worth A Listen Track This Week Comes From Brahma-Loka

brahma-loka

Brahma-Loka are a rock band from Mossley. The band consists of members Patrick Neville (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Will Owen (Guitar), Josh Leach (Bass/Backing Vocals) and Ryan Prescott (Drums). 2015 saw the band release their debut EP and tour the full length of Mainland Europe and the UK. They are currently working on tracks marked for release later this year. We have chosen their new single ‘Noble Savage’ to be our worth a listen track this week.
‘Noble Savage’ has already had heavy radio play from BBC Introducing Manchester and has been featured on Phil Taggert’s BBC Radio 1 show. The single was produced by Bill Ryder-Jones and is set for release on September 5th. Its a short slap in the face mind-blowing track with smooth sensual tones. The vocals are deep and dark for the verse adding a mysterious dangerously luring quality to the track while the contrasting backing vocals are higher in pitch adding a sweeter quality that is both effective and innovative. Neville’s  vocals become velvety, brimming with a swagger and confidence that is captivating. We are blasted from the start with punchy beats and fantastic crunching guitars that become more intense and dynamic as the song progresses. ‘Noble Savage’ is staggeringly intoxicating as Brahma-Loka coax you with every note and lead you down their eerie psychedelic-rock rabbit hole of seduction and obscurity. The flexible bass gives this track a funky dance quality that persuades the listener to dance and indulge in their magnetic and bewitching sound.
A fantastic catchy track from Brahma-Loka look forward to hearing more.

Our Worth A Listen Track This Week Comes From Farebrother

Farebrother are Bath’s latest indie alternative band. Tom Hunt, Michael Vowell and Matt Day, make up the indie three-piece. The band have become known for their electric performances and have already won an endorsement with Mass Records while also receiving interest from All Saints, Olympus and Mini who have incorporated the high-energy, hook filled tracks into their media campaigns. 2015 saw them perform at some of Bristol and Bath’s most iconic venues, such as The Louisiana and The Nest. Farebrother have now released their debut EP ‘Rapture’ this year.
The title track from their debut EP is our worth a listen track this week. ‘Rapture’ is a fully formed snappy track that is so well composed its difficult to reconcile yourself to the fact that it was taken from their debut EP. Farebrother ease you into the track with a reserved verse to start. Its stripped back with light accompaniment and bare vocals that give a rawness to the track and establish the vocal melody. They then introduce their fantastic energetic sound with walls of crunching guitar and pounding rapid drums that drive the track forward. The vocals are strong and confident and exude swagger and emotion. The track builds into an anthem fist pump that is arena worthy. Its a crowd -pleaser with its catchy chorus that is infectious and gives that feel good fiery atmosphere to the track. Farebrother appear to have mastered the art of writing tunes that connect with an audience, these guys definitely have a bright future ahead of them.

Our Worth A Listen Track This Week Comes In The Form Of Áine Cahill’s ‘Black Dahlia’

Cavan singer-songwriter Áine Cahill has received fantastic exposure recently for having taken part in the 2fm/Oxfam ‘Play The Picnic’ competition. She managed to reach the top 10 for the national contest, which secured her a slot on the Oxjam Stage at this year’s Electric Picnic. Cahill has already released a 5-track EP called ‘Paper Crown,’ which came out shortly before Christmas 2014 and was named the #1 unsigned Irish EP of 2014 by Unsigned and Independent Magazine. She’s also hugely influenced by the jazz of the ’40s and ’50s, and has only recently started working with a band, made up of four musicians, Louise Johnston (piano), Paul McCann (double bass), Sam Geraghty (guitar) and Paul ‘Foxy’ Cox (drums).
‘Black Dahlia’ is the start of a new project Cahill is currently working on with producer Martin Quinn from Jam Studios. The song tells the tragic true story of an unsolved murder in 1940s Hollywood. Cahill portrays this theme to us perfectly, she creates an eerie mysterious atmosphere that calls you as a witness to  a tragic scene. With touching imagery conveyed through the lyrics teamed with crisp melancholy vocals that add to this nostalgic haunting tone. The track is narrated to us in a sway -like theatrical manner that touches your soul and pulls you in to this painful grievous tale. The light instrumentation to start adds a delicate quality to the track with the soft beats and gentle piano conveying the soft, innocent and hopeful young star. While the guitar seems to lament the death of this young woman the strings add a sense of danger lurking in the back ready to pounce. The backing vocals lull the listener as if trying to ease their mind of the harrowing scene and give comfort to a distressed soul.
A fantastic track from Áine Cahill look forward to hearing more.
You can catch Áine Cahill live at The Grand Social – Friday September 9th

This track is ridiculously catchy with a 60’s swing like effect. The vocals seamlessly slide between a luscious smooth cooing with dreamy backing harmonies to a sharpened scream. Oozing attitude and swagger the track has a strutting confident effect and feminine strength. Its simple pop hook, bouncy beats and zealous guitar riff makes this track unforgettable. Our Worth A Listen Track This Week Comes From Fangclub

Fangclub are a Garage rock band from Dublin. Band members Steven King, Kevin Keane and Dara Coleman released their EP ‘Bullet Head’ this year and we have chosen the title track as our worth a listen track.
‘Bullet Head’ is an energetic, gritty, grunge rock track that is reminiscent of the 90’s style organic rock. The track begins with an infectious guitar riff intro that builds into a fantastic mosh with pounding drums and vigorous guitars. The verse stalls the mosh and is delivered in a shadowy, cool yet intense manner. With light instrumentation while the vocals are smooth and clear with a slight rasp giving a gritty texture to the track that is enticing. It then explodes into the chorus with dynamic and animated vocals, shredding guitar and thunderous strong rhythm. The chorus is lyrically simple and infectious and difficult not to sing along to. With its punk attitude for the chorus and intense dark verse which has a luring and captivating effect this track shows how diverse Fangclub are.
A Fantastic track which I can imagine is insane when performed live!

Our Worth A Listen Track this week comes from Ethan & The Reformation

Manchester’s Psychedelic Rock/Pop band Ethan & The Reformation have decided to release their track ‘Hollandia’ as it is going to be used on a TV advert. As I’m sure you know by now we at Indie Buddie are becoming big fans of Ethan & The Reformation as they have constantly impressed us with every tune they have been throwing at us. So naturally we decided to make ‘Hollandia’ our Worth A Listen Track this week.
‘Hollandia’ is a Psychedelic gritty blues rock track with a slick dirty bass riff that sticks in your head. The steady bendable beat gives a hypnotic effect that lures you into the track. While the zesty psychedelic guitar plays a light melody that swirls in your head giving an intoxicated effect. The vocals are raspy and gritty which adds a brawny quality to the verse. The chorus is lyrically simple and repetitive and sung in the higher range of vocals, this adds to the hypnotic effect and makes this track unforgettable.
Another fantastic track form Ethan & The Reformation you can buy ‘Hollandia’ now on iTunes via their own label, Bohemian Sex Club.

We did a feature on their track ‘Rainbow Mind’ earlier this year and once we heard their new track ‘Violet Lines’ we decided to choose it as our worth a listen track.
‘Violet Lines’ contrasts everything you expect from Serene it’s a groovy, funky track with hazy summer vibes. It gives us a sweet tickling guitar riff to start with light bouncy beats for the verse. The vocals for the verse are deep and mysterious while for the chorus they become more dynamic and raspy. The band still keep their psychedelic feel with “wah wah” guitars and a shredding yet smooth and sleek guitar solo. Its cool, airy tones give a light summer breeze to the track that is relaxing.
