BECAH ‘Freak’ EP

Northern Irish alternative indie artist BECAH has released her highly-anticipated debut EP ‘Freak’. BECAH has supported notable acts such as Aslan, The Four of Us, and Brian Kennedy. Her music has received critical acclaim. Collaborating with renowned producer Michael Mormecha on her latest project, BECAH’s single ‘Freak’ is an extraordinary and deeply personal introspective piece that delves into the feeling of being different and questioning one’s worth. The accompanying music video is a compelling visual representation of the song’s powerful message adding an extra layer of emotion to the already gripping track.

‘Freak’ is a mesmerising display of BECAH’s earnest songwriting and wonderfully emotive musicianship. From soulful R&B tones mixed with an indie edge in ‘Ghost’ and the heavy fuzz-filled indie rock of the title track ‘Freak’ to the pop ballad-esque ‘Fool’, Freak is a unique and memorable EP.

BECAH’s vocals are an utter treasure. Her ability to convey so much emotion from many of the heartbreaking lyrics within the EP is simply breathtaking. ‘Reminders’ is a beautiful example of this. Her sweet delicate tone floods with emotion as sparse ethereal soundscapes move between a heartbreaking bittersweet melody. The track is a delight to listen to and a wonderful moment within the EP.

An exciting aspect of BECAH’s musicianship is her ability to convey emotion, not just through her voice but also her music. She trickles soft piano and gentle guitar into tender ballads like ‘Lost’ and jazzy elements with R&B beats in ‘Ghost’ to create surges of emotional movement making each song captivating and magical in its own way.

‘Freak’ is a deeply personal EP filled with raw lyrical content and immersive soundscapes. The EP is a glorious collection of refined musicianship and moving songs that marks BECAH as not only an artist to keep an eye on but one to treasure.

About ‘Freak’ BECAH says,

“I think we all can feel sometimes as though we’re not quite “normal”. The people that surround us can make us question ourselves and our worth. ‘Freak’ is about my battle with that. It speaks of a time my mind was busy with self-deprecation and a submission to the belief that I was just a ‘freak’, different from everyone around me and struggling with the noise inside my head.”

BECAH ‘Ghost’

Lurgan based Indie – alternative artist BECAH, is back with her second single and has announced her upcoming debut EP ‘Freaks’, due out Nov 20th. With her debut single ‘Forget’ released in July BECAH grabbed the attention of the industry with her heartfelt lyrics and original writing style. Now back with her second single ‘Ghost’ BECAH brings a new energy and shows off her flexibility when it comes to songwriting.

‘Ghost’ displays the limitless scope of BECAH as an artist as she dives into the dark electronic and more dynamic side of her mesmerising musicianship. The bittersweet melody drifts atop an effervescent soundscape of punchy drums, distorted guitar fuzz and biting electronics, creating a sweet, innocent contrast to the sinister explosive atmosphere. With heavy synths and sharp guitar this tune is passionate, tender and powerful – the lyrics hit hard as BECAH’s crisp and wonderfully lush vocals coo with soulful tones while a choppy piano refrain accompanies the verses creating an almost jazzy retro element before the chorus consumes the song in a rage of emotion.

BECAH’s debut ‘Forget’ gave listeners a glimpse of her immense talent and sterling sound. However she has turned up the heat for ‘Ghost’. The maturity displayed in her songwriting, tantalizing musicianship, and precise guitar work is impressive. Keep an eye on BECAH.

About the song, BECAH say :”Ghost was the first song I ever sat down and finished when I began writing. Scrawled out in an old notebook on my bedroom floor with a few rough chords as I was only teaching myself guitar at the time. I’ve always noted it as the foundation for everything that has come after, as it gave me the confidence to continue writing. It speaks of those almost loves – the longing to have a person that can never be yours, and the difficulties that surround those kinds of relationships. The sleepless nights, the hope, the disappointment. Feeling as though that person is almost like a ghost in your life because one moment they’re there and then the next they’re gone.”

BECAH ‘Forget’

BECAH has released her new single ‘Forget’. BECAH is a 25 year old singer/songwriter from Lurgan, Northern Ireland.Having cultivated her art playing the local scene for the last number of years, BECAH is proving herself to be quite the emerging artist of note. Within that time she has secured support slots for renowned acts including that of Aslan, The Four of Us, and Brian Kennedy, and most recently played on the same bill as Brian Houston, Sam Wickens and Amy Montgomery. To date BECAH has recorded an EP ‘At Ease’ (2018) with the Oh Yeah Music Centre, Belfast, along with two singles ‘Butterflies’ (2018), and ‘Yours’ (2019), both recorded by producer Matthew Greene in Greene Noise Audio, Lurgan. Her music releases have led to an array of significant competitive successes behind her – a finalist in both the Panarts Young Songwriter of the Year and the AER Solo Artist Award, as well as finishing 3rd place in the Dawson’s Singer/Songwriter Competition. Her upcoming single release ‘Forget’ was recorded with producer Michael Mormecha.

Stunningly moving and powerful BECAH takes a simple approach with ‘Forget’. With innocent twinkling on piano wandering through a pulsing beat backdrop the track presents an intimate and passionate account of a messy break-up. The song unfolds delicately adding lush backing harmonies and warm glimmers on guitar as it fleshes out its ethereal soundscapes. BECAH has a diverse and talented voice as she drifts into R&B elements at times while her warm rasp and velvety manner captures a pure sense of sorrow. There is a sweet innocence and heartbreaking undertone throughout the song. BECAH has an ability to capture emotions in a time loop allowing the listener to ruminate on her lyrics providing a slow motion impact of bitter/sweet pain. ‘Forget’ is an emotive and heart breaking track that displays BECAH’s rich, vulnerable and compelling musicianship.

About the track BECAH said : “Using my lyrics almost in a diary-like fashion as ever, Forget tells the story of a messy break-up. It reflects on how one person in the relationship can be left still loving the other, whilst having to accept it’s bitter end and making that difficult return back to the strangers you once were. Like all my songs, it speaks of very personal things, and it’s my hope in that brutal honesty with Forget that the listeners find they can relate and recognise they are not alone in these complicated matters we can find ourselves stuck in.”
