Ben Lazarus has released his new single, ‘Outrun The Truth’, telling the story of a person unable to take accountability for their actions. Ben Lazarus witnessed this first hand whilst working on a reality TV show, which is what eventually inspired him to write the song.

Surging with grunge tones ‘Outrun The Truth’ is a catchy new single from Ben Lazarus. Ben Lazarus ‘Staying In’

Capturing the essence of the early days of the pandemic, ‘Staying In’ is the latest single to come from singer-songwriter Ben Lazarus. The song makes use of a wide range of instruments due to the pandemic affording Lazarus the time to play with everything in his vast musical “toy box”. Ben Lazarus grew up in Sunnyvale, CA, until April of 2005 when he moved to Los Angeles to attend film school, and where he has lived ever since. In March, the multi-instrumentalist signed with Napier Records, a label founded by Academy award-winning filmmaker Andrew Napier.

‘Staying In’ is a catchy folk hued indie tune from Ben Lazarus. The artist takes a bright buoyant melody and adorns it in twanging guitar, steady rhythms and intricate percussive elements. ‘Staying In’ provides a cheery tone and positive outlook to the pandemic lockdowns while soft bells and a layered tapestry of guitars create a sweet and charming backdrop for Lazarus’ unique vocal coos to drift upon. ‘Staying In’ is a quirky ditty that showcases the vibrant, irresistible songwriting of Lazarus.

Speaking of his new single, Lazarus explains “This song features the drumming of my late little brother John, and playing over his tracks makes me feel closer to him.”

Ben Lazarus ‘Going to the Store’

Capturing the disorienting shift to a new normal of life in the pandemic, ‘Going to the Store’ is the latest single to be released from L.A based artist Ben Lazarus. Started in 2005, this upbeat song was left unfinished until 2020, when Lazarus found himself with time in his life to make music again. Lazarus recently signed to Napier Records, a new label founded by Academy award-winning filmmaker Andrew Napier. A keyboard player since the age of 7, Ben Lazarus has picked up several instruments along the way. Becoming part of numerous garage bands in the San Francisco Bay area, eventually completing the line-up for post-punk band Stunt Monkey. After five years of recording and touring, Lazarus moved to Los Angeles and became a production sound mixer for film and television. Over the next 15 years, he wrote and recorded songs at home while working quietly behind the scenes. 

‘Going to the Store’ is a bright and witty tune laced in Ben Lazarus’ catchy indie rock. The track floats upon a light zesty indie guitar refrain which bounces through the soft beat allowing the clever lyrics become the main focus. Lazarus’ warm vocals nonchalantly discuss how the mundane act of grocery shopping feels treacherous now, due to the pandemic. The track has a sun-kissed indie rock tone with smooth melodies and radiant guitars maintaining the song’s warmth and feathery lightness. With delicate and sprightly instrumentation creating a buoyant lift, ‘Going to the Store’ is an enjoyable listening experience.
